have you been waiting this whole time to hear about my necklace, and see awesome dress pictures? i thought so…

the part about my dress that stood out to me, that made me choose it, was the fabric. it’s a pretty standard shape for a wedding gown, but it’s made of strips of organza, which are not sewn down at the bottom, creating raw edge – which i knew i wanted to jewelry to play off of. the other amazing thing about the layers of organza is the way they picked up air when i walked, as seen in yesterdays image. that’s what got me, walking out of the dressing room toward the mirror and seeing that feature, i could picture walking down the aisle toward drew and that magic moment.

so. necklace. i thought about something like jess’s , with white pearls and some beautiful crystal teardrops i found a few years ago, but when i put it together, it seemed too delicate. i also really loved these big, rough cut quartz pieces, but they seemed too casual just strung together. then one night – the night before my bridal portraits, i love to work on a deadline!- it came to me. the big quartz pieces interspersed with the pearls. the rough cut of the quartz would echo the raw edges of the organza, the pearls would “fancy it up” a bit.

result?
